3 Easy Ways to Prepare for an Interior Design Consultation

I understand that free time for many of my clients is hard to come by, so the best consultation is thorough, productive, and of course, fun! We dedicate two hours to learning as much as possible about the project goals and concerns, personal likes and dislikes, and overall expectations. As we need to prepare for your consultation, you should take time to get ready to meet with us. Here's how…

1. Curate a Collection of Images that Inspire You

We've all heard, "A picture's worth a thousand words." But that's because it's true. Images and photos are among the best ways to introduce your preferred design aesthetic. Even designers turn to Pinterest for inspiration or new ideas! If you need to know where to begin, check out our recent post on discovering your interior design style.

2. Decide & Share Your Project Goals

Before your design consultation, I will send a brief but in-depth questionnaire. This questionnaire asks probing questions to help my team and me understand what you want to accomplish and what the scope of your project might be. This allows us to show up to the consultation ready to discuss solutions and ideas so that we can make the most of our time together.

At the end of every consultation, I strive to provide actionable information so that you can decide how you’d like to work with us. We will also discuss ballpark investment numbers to keep the project realistic.

3. Prepare and Plan to Keep Your Mind Open

One of the most significant returns of a luxury interior design consultation is having someone with fresh eyes view your space. As we walk the space together, we will provide observations of your home that will bring up ideas or thoughts you maybe have yet to consider. As a result, you will begin to see your home in a different way. A client that keeps an open mind typically finds consultations much more productive.

At the end of the day, I've done my job well when I have given a client a home that truly looks and feels like it belongs to them. After all, I understand how it feels to love my home and the sense of inner peace it brings me at the end of the day. And that is ultimately what I strive to give my clients as well. So, if you need help figuring out where to start, an in-home consultation is the way to begin dreaming about the possibilities within your home.

Ready to schedule that home consultation if you don't already have one on the books? Let's talk. We can't wait to meet you!

Until next time,

Donna
