3 Design Trends Spotted at High Point Market

Trends are great in small doses. I like to make my designs timeless with a few trends thrown in that will make the space feel current. Twenty years from now, you should not be able to look at a room and know when it was designed.

What goes around comes around. Our recent visit to High Point Market showed furnishings leaning towards Traditional Design again. Furniture pieces were scaled down from what they were 5 years ago. Art was used for maximum impact in a room.

Take a look at some other specific trends we noticed while at Market…

Transparent Material Furniture

Acrylic is extremely adaptable. It can work in both a modern and traditional space. Because it is transparent, it can fit into a space without adding bulk. It can be customized because it is so flexible.

Globally Inspired Furniture

The fabulous shapes, cozy fabrics and rich colors of globally inspired furnishings will definitely speak to the client who loves Traditional with a Twist. Collections center around an extensive variety in pattern play, unique conversation-worthy pieces, and lavish use of textures and colors.

Functional & Creative Lighting

Lighting defines space, creating the ambiance that delineates one room from another. Lighting is also often considered to be where fashion and function merge, creating limitless possibilities for every interior setting.

Modern, transitional, and traditional designs are combined with the latest technologies to transform every room's aesthetic, adding ambiance and accentuating decor. Fixed-wired lighting was everywhere with large chandeliers and pendants to oversized lamps.

An Inspirational Trip to Market

We look forward to visiting High Point Market each year. It is a place where we go to see upcoming trends, recharge our creative side, learn a little more through key note speakers, and catch up with old friends while meeting new ones.
